graphic detail

a totally visual web + app platform

P + G + C + M

Graphic Detail is a TOTALLY VISUAL, minimally textual web + app platform. We configure each website or app as some combination of full screen photography (P) +/- interactive full screen data graphics (G) +/- compelling content (C) +/- an attractive marketplace (M).

HOW (WHY)?

We partner with folks who are well-positioned in a relevant community, discipline or sector. A partner could be interested in any of these: visibility, advocacy, education, promotion, and (usually but not always) revenue generation.

full screen PHOTOGRAPHY (P)

A single photographic image FILLS THE ENTIRE SCREEN, from various perspectives depending on screen resolution.

INTERACTIVE MAPS + GRAPHS (G)

Interactive javascript maps + graphs are incorporated in some configurations. Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit partner FACTGRAPHS.ORG produces high quality embeddable responsive verifiable data visuals, presented without commentary. FACTGRAPHS are freely re-usable. They are designed for bloggers, educators, students, independent media (actually all media), nonprofits, for-profits, researchers, advocates and opponents, and anyone engaged in social discourse, politics, policymaking and spirited debate. A single javascript factgraph fills the screen.

VISUAL LOCATIONS

Mexicography (P+G+M) is a visual directory with full-screen images of Mexico and its people, the most interesting places to see! and things to do, its art and culture, big ideas and clever innovation, news, politics, economics and embeddable data graphics. Japanography (P+G+M), Graphic NYC (P+G).

VISUAL CONTROVERSIES

Climatography (P+G+C) is a visual directory with full-screen images linked to climate news, economics and politics, activism, ideas and innovation, places to live!, things to do, and embeddable data graphics and maps. Prototype examples include impeachability.org (P+G) and brexitography (P+G+M).

VISUAL EVENTS

Coronagraphs.com leans heavily on visual data. Qatargraphics (P) is coming in advance of the 2022 Fifa World Cup. Three intertwined visual directories will be developed in advance of the 2026 Winter Olympics: Cortinagraphy (P+G+M), Milanography (P+G+M) and Venetography (P+G+M). Blurbs from all three will be incorporated within Graphic Italy (P+G+M).

VISUAL SECTORS

Happy Campers (P+M) is a visual directory of summer camps, winter camps, day camps, overnight camps, kids' camps, big people's camps, sailing camps, camp jobs, places to work!, and all kinds of camp stuff. Refresher Course (P+M) is a visual directory of continuing education.

DATA DIRECTORY

A focused data directory is attached to any GRAPHIC DETAIL site that incorporates FACTGRAPHS (G). Search results highlight FACTGRAPHS and identify data resources from all over the internet.

ARTS + SCIENCE

Graphic Animal (P+G+M), Immunography (P+G+C+M), Microbiography (P+G+C+M), Invisible Garden (P+G+C+M). Think of some more.

VISUAL EDUCATION

Radiographical (P) is a free educational resource that features full screen radiological images (xrays, CTs, MRIs etc).

PICTORIAL COMMUNITY

A pictorial community (P) is attached to Radiographical (P), where the radiology world (academia, private practice, research institutions, manufacturers, hospitals, trade groups) can mingle and shmuuz on a COMMUNITY platform. A university community can look mighty fine on SHMUUZ (P).

WE NEED PARTNERS!

Graphic Detail is READY TO PARTNER on any and all of the domains listed here (and we can design for domains that we haven't thought of yet). We have some great ideas on how to share the labor and the revenue.

PARTNER'S ROLE

You, as PARTNER, are right in the thick of things (you are established in your sector of interest, in your community in the broad sense of the term). You latch onto one of these domains (we're just getting started) or work with us in developing a new one, identify data + topics of interest, and most importantly gather or attract blurb creators (the 'community'). You are the community builders +/- content creators.

OUR ROLE

We, the production team at GRAPHIC DETAIL, produce + maintain the site and make things flow beautifully. We manage the marketplace. Our nonprofit partner FACTGRAPHS.ORG creates graphs + maps that can be embedded within your domain. Factgraphs are based on verifiable data and are freely available for re-use, by anyone.

REVENUE MODELS

Together we choose the revenue model. Here are some options.

CUSTOM BLOG POSTS

In sites with ample content, every POST is a blurb. Paid posts contain appropriately labeled content from partner organizations; the marketplace also includes labeled affiliate marketing posts.

PHOTO BLURBS

In photo sites, every PHOTO is a blurb. Community members who create blurbs might be offered the choice between a free option (blurbs with no links) and a monthly or yearly paid option (blurbs with links to map + phone + web pages + social media). The paid option would be chosen by merchants, media and advertisers, and perhaps individuals who want to promote something.

REVENUE SHARING (P)

In a photography-only (P) platform, the partner and Graphic Detail could share revenue 50:50.

REVENUE SHARING (P+G+C+M)

In a platform that includes graphs +/- maps, the partner and Graphic Detail and Factgraphs could share revenue 40:40:20. Or maybe there are fewer graphs and maps, and the ratio is 45:45:10.

SPONSORSHIP MODEL

An organization (e.g., the national society of windtunnel technicians) might decide to financially sponsor a platform, enabling its members to create blurbs, with links, for free.

SPONSORED with REVENUE

The windtunnel technicians society might provide the financing for a full-featured platform where its members can create for free, and then recoup its costs through advertising blurbs sold to interested parties in the industry.
